Family Home in Great Park, Newcastle Turns to Synthetic Turf for Back Garden

Mr H from Great Park Gosforth fancied a new low maintenance back garden so he contacted Easigrass and asked for one of our guys to pop out and give him a no obligation quote. We visited the property and showed them him our range of fake grass. Mr H. opted for the Chelsea as it is the softest synthetic grass and complimented the current design of his back garden. That was it, Mr. H was now in the fit queue and eagerly awaited his garden transformation.

We wanted a low maintenance garden and somewhere that was safe and fun for the children and that's what we got.

We are really happy with all aspects of the work.

Mr H

The day came for one of our teams to go out for the installation to a fake lawn. Our teams get there early in the morning and the first thing to do is to remove the existing turf by using turf cutters. When it is dug out to the required level we then install the first layer of aggregate which is a crushed stone mixture, we then use the whacker plates to compact the aggregate down creating a solid base. Next we install another layer, this time of ballast which is red in colour. We use the whacker plates again to compact this layer down creating a perfectly flat base to work from and lay the new grass.

Now it is time to lay the grass, we place the grass down where it is going to be laid and weight it down with bags of kiln-dried sand as we cut the grass to the desired shape and join the grass. Once all is set, we lay the grass and use mechanical brushes that work the sand into the base of the grass; this holds the grass down and helps keep the blades upright. The final stage is to hose the grass down which settles the sand in the base and makes this artificial grass installation in Great Park look fantastic.

Family Home in Great Park, Newcastle Turns to Synthetic Turf for Back Garden

Miss J lives in a new build on the much up and coming Great Park Estate in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her back garden has already been landscaped with extra paving and some decorative stone leading down to her shed. The garden is on a slight slope and Miss J requested us to call by and give her a quote on having the last part covered with our award winning artificial grass. The area that was left to be grassed as you can see was just soil that had been left over from the paviours and builders. Miss J chose the grass she loved which was our 40mm Chelsea. We offered her a quote to which she placed an order.

The guys done an excellent job on my lawn. I love it and cant wait to enjoy it

Miss J - Great Park, Newcastle upon Tyne

Being a smaller job the team were able to complete it by early afternoon. Our teams get there early in the morning and the first thing to do is to remove the existing turf by using turf cutters or this case just digging the loose soil out and taken away. With the garden sloping into the lawn area near the shed we needed to retain the area slightly so that the lawn could be laid more level than without. The team installed the treated timber then began installing the new base.

The first layer of aggregate is crushed stone (dolomite), we use whacker plates to compact the aggregate down creating a solid base. Next we install another layer, this time of granno dust which is dark grey in colour.
