Dramatic Changes in Front Garden in Durham with False Turf by Easigrass
Mrs E contacted Easigrass looking for help with her lawn in the front garden. The garden had several bushes that needed maintenance as well as a lawn area that was looking tired. Mrs E could not maintain the garden like she would like to. We showed her the fake grass range and she picked Knightsbridge due to its shorter just cut look. She also wanted us to create a border so that when she got out of her car she was not standing on the lawn or mud.
Our installers arrived and set about a normal install. They removed the existing turf by using turf cutters and barrowing it out of the garden leaving a blank canvas. Once removed the team set about installing a timber frame to retain the area that the grass was to be laid. Following this we then installed our first layer of aggregate to create a solid base to work from. The crushed stone which is yellow in colour is compacted down using whacker plates to ensure there will be no sinkage in the years to come.
I can't fault the installers. They worked so hard and have done an excellent job. I'm thrilled with the outcome.

The next layer which is red in colour is ballast which is a mixture of sand and grit and is used to create a perfectly flat top layer for the lawn to laid onto. Again this is compacted down but once this is completed we screed the surface ensuring that the whole area is level. We then add the weed membranes before laying the grass. This will prevent any weeds that manage to grown through the base from growing through the lawn.
Finally the lawn is laid in place and the team cover the area with kiln dried sand to weight the lawn in place whilst final cuts are made. Mrs E also requested that we put a circular planter into the middle of the lawn using our aluminium edging which is excellent for creating round borders. The lawn is then pinned to the timber frame and the sand is mechanically brushed in to the base of the fake lawn. The fake lawn is then lightly hosed down to wash the remaining sand into the base leaving the new lawn looking fantastic. Once the lawn was completed Mrs E had chosen blue slate for her borders to finish the garden off.
