Fake Lawn in Billingham Brings Children's Garden to Life
Mr and Mrs S contacted Easigrass early on in 2016. Mr S's mother had Easigrass convert her garden last year and he now wanted us to do the same for him. They had some new decking and paving installed and the last thing on the list was to have artificial grass installed for the children to have a safe and clean area to play on. They chose our Chelsea range due to its soft and thick pile.
Excellent job by the guys. We are over the moon with the new lawn and the kids will absolutely love it
Mr S - Billingham
When the team arrived at the job they set to work removing the current surfaces and prepped the area ready for our new base. As seen in the photographs the first layer is yellow in colour and is crushed stone. This gets compacted down to create a hard base for us to work from and stop any sinkage. The next layer is red in colour is sand and grit and this again is compacted down but is then screeded to create a flat surface for us to lay the grass. If we laid directly onto sand which is the way people commonly think it is installed the lawn would not stay even for long and would eventually divet and have bumps.
They then apply the geotextile weed barrier on top of the ballast to give another barrier to prevent any wed growth from underneath. The team lay the grass out in place and weight it down using bags of kiln dried sand so that they can cut it and join it without it moving. Once it is cut in place the kiln dried sand is then evenly distributed around this fake grass in Billingham and mechanically brushed into the base to help weight it down. After a light hose down the new garden is looking amazing and ready for the kids to enjoy it for years to come.
