Chelsea Fake Lawn Adds the Finishing Touch To This Northumberland Back garden

Mr and Mrs E have a good size back garden with a small grass area. The area is very boggy and the grass struggles to grow with the lack of light due to surrounding trees. They also have a dog which adds to the problem of the lawn not being able to grow very well.

Artificial Grass North East received a call from the couple after they had been looking at our website and our photographs of past projects. A member of our team visited their property with our samples and were able to give them a full quotation within 10 minutes for us to install their grass.

A great job well done. the worker worked tirelessly

Our team arrived to install the grass an normal. Firstly they set about removing the existing turf so they can install the aggregate base. The existing turf was very wet so slowed us down removing it as it was quite messy. The aggregate base is made up of two layers. The first is a crushed stone which is yellow in colour. This is compacted down using a whacker plate to create a hard base and prevent sinkage. They then put on the next layer which is a mix of sand and grit called ballast and again is compacted down. This is then screeded to ensure the surface is perfectly level and ready for the grass.

After laying the weed barrier out it is pinned down so that it doesn't blow around for the next stage. The new lawn is laid in place and held down with bags of kiln dried sands to stop it moving around. The grass is cut and joined where needed leaving the lawn nearly finished. The kin dried sand is then evenly distributed over the lawn and using mechanical brushes it is brushed into the base to act as a weight.

After a light hose down this artificial grass installation in Seaton Sluice is complete and looks fabulous.
