Recent Low Fell Artificial Grass Installation
Even a smaller garden could do with some artificial grass. Our elderly homeowner just wants a lawn that looks lovely and is easy to manage. She doesn’t want to keep dragging the lawnmower out twice a week in the summer or wading through mud and mess in the winter & let’s face it, during the many rainy summer days.

Back Garden 20m2 Low Fell
This garden only gets a little sunlight as it is quite shaded on two sides. The installation starts by removing the old turf and soil to the required depth for our sub base.
This has to be done properly to avoid issues later with subsidence or weeds growing up through the artificial grass. So we start with a geotextile weed barrier, followed by a layer of crushed stone (dolomite) compacted to create a hard surface.
The team then installed and screed a layer of granite dust which is the much preferred material to sharp sand, and compact it down with our whacker plate. Now we have a firm sub-base that will not subside or allow anything to grow.
The surface is now ready for the artificial grass. The customer chose our famous award winning grass. This is the ideal artificial grass for a natural look and soft feel underfoot.
The grass is rolled out and held down with sandbags whilst the installers cut and shape the grass. It is a direct replacement for the old grass, is cut right up to the surrounding fences and paving, and looks fantastic.
A layer of silica/kiln dried sand is then evenly spread and mechanically brushed into the grass pile to give it weight. The final thing done is to clean the whole area leaving a fantastic easy to manage lawn for this customer to enjoy.
